Hi, I had a routine mammogram in August and also began a new job on 27 August. I was diagnosed with stage I breast cancer and had a lumpectomy to remove at the end of October (I was signed off by surgeon for 4 weeks) then returned to work. Work have been good giving me time to attend appointments & radiotherapy sessions and am shortly to start on tamoxifen. My probationary period was 6 months so due to be up the end of this month, but I've been told by line manager they want to extend this by 3 months as I was off and haven't had long enough to complete their assessment.
I have had regular catch ups with line manager and even received employee of the month in December and nothing was mentioned about this prior to now. I appreciate they may want to extend but 3 months seems a lot. I just wondered if anyone had experience/ advice on anything similar?

The Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, a listening ear…….. but more importantly benefits/financial/work place guidance.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) so can I recommend that you look to join and introduce yourself to our dedicated….
……. support group as this group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
