  • Hello, I have just joined the community on advice from my consultant after completing Brachytherapy procedure for prostate cancer. She said I should be able to get travel insurance cover for this condition so wonder if anyone here can advise please. She advised that the treatment has completed and I am now in a monitor phase if that makes sense. Many thanks.... Mike
  • Good Evening Mike (

A warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community, although I am so sorry to find you here. I am Brian one of the Community Champions here. I am also on my 4th year of my personal Prostate Cancer journey.

I see you have already joined the Prostate Group - feel free to introduce yourself on the group, we are a friendly bunch and you will find plenty of help, encouragement and advice there.

As to travel insurance on the Community we have a special forum for this and here's the link you need to join this:

Travel insurance forum for cancer patients

I have just completed 3 years on Hormone Therapy/Radiotherapy and in that time I have had a joint worldwide policy with my wife as we travel to the part of Turkey that is in Asia. We have had a great price and cover from insurancewith. When arranging insurance with a cancer diagnosis I have found the best way to get competitive cover is to telephone the Company, and give them your full diagnosis.

I hope this helps and look forward to "meeting" you again on the Prostate group.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hello Millibob

Many thanks for your prompt response . I have found through research that Insurancewith seems to be a good company to talk to so will take your advice. We're currently with Staysure and as soon as I mentioned Brachytherapy treatment they told me they wouldn't insure me for any claims related to my prostate cancer. Could be the standard questions they ask online so with these forums I know talking to insurers on the phone can be more productive - albeit longer Thinking.
