Delay in medicine for reducing prostate cancer (hormone therapy)

Have prostate cancer. Had been on hormone therapy for over 3 months and my PSA went up. Doc said for some reason the tablets aren’t working, so putting me on an injection.
he wanted to me keep taking the tablets until I start the injection. Delay delay delay for 3 weeks and no injection. Had appointment at doctors to have the jab, when went in the nurse apologised she didn’t have it. I walked out in disgust. Allegedly I will get it today.

so I’ve had 4 months of tablets that are doing NOTHING and there seems no urgency in giving me the injection.

I am not a doctor but I guess in 4 months the cancer must have grown and no one seems to  care, where I worry.

  • Good Morning

A warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community, although I am so sorry to find you here. I am Brian one of the Community Champions here, and indeed I am in the 4th year of my own personal Prostate Cancer journey.

The online Community is divided into various cancer specific groups and I would advise you to join the Prostate Cancer group where you will "meet" other community members on the same or similar journey. Here's the link you need:

    Prostate cancer forum

Once the page opens up, just click on "join" on the black banner at the bottom of the page. Once you have joined the Prostate group, just copy and paste or repost your original post in the "New Here - Say Hello" section. You will receive a warm welcome and plenty of answers. How do I know this - I hang out on the Prostate group and we are a great bunch.

I look forward to "meeting" you later in "our" little part of the Community.

    Best wishes - Brian.
