I’m new to the group - what I thought was a cyst on my leg turns out to be spread of a previous cancerous mole melanoma.
the radiologist scanned the lump and then also found a further lump in my groin.
I had a full body scan (not pet scan) on Friday evening and fortunately no other sites in my body identified as having lumps which is a good thing I hope.
the lump in leg is being removed in 5 days time and I think a biopsy of the 3 lumps in my groin will be taken at the same time.
i understand that it will be a bit of a waiting game for results and a decision on treatment, albeit immunotherapy has been mentioned a number of times.
im trying to stay positive, my wife is being hugely supportive as well.
im looking for anything to help give me even an ounce of comfort.
My cancer journey has been quite different, but the anxiety that follows the diagnosis is exactly the same. I had several departments using words like "inoperable" which was upsetting. But then you find someone who suggests treatments and you get hope again, like that ray of sunshine coming through the clouds. The range of treatments available now is inspiring. Don't worry if the first doctor can't help, you will get to the right department and someone who can help.
Best wishes for whichever treatment(s) you end up with.
I joined this group a couple of days ago and already feel very supported. My journey is different from yours but I think we all suffer with anxiety once we hear the word cancer, plus the waiting for results and treatment, but rest assured that the oncology teams are amazing and they will find the best possible outcome suitable for you.
I have had my 4th round of immunotherapy, and thankfully I haven’t suffered any real side effects as yet. I had a CT scan last week and a MRI brain scan today and will have to wait until the 20th Feb to review all the results, so I’m also feeling a little anxious at the moment.
Being part of the online community has raised my hopes and positivity. Stay strong and reach out.
Hi Aky001 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and I was diagnosed with melanoma 8 years ago so know how scared you're probably feeling right now.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join us over in the melanoma group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
