I had been feeling unwell with stomach indigestion and stomach ache for about 3 weeks ,no appetite, night sweats, generally not myself, about 10 days ago I found a lump in my neck followed by another. I saw my GP who immediately sent me for bloods and X-ray. My thyroid is working too fast and they rang to say there is something in the front of my chest but they can’t make out what it is. Had a CT Scan this week awaiting results but have so much stomach and back pain on the left side of my back at night time when laying down. The GP said I have been referred on fast track to  Gastro,Head and Neck and also Lung specialist. I’m in a daze 4 weeks ago I was completely fit and well just feel awful and worried

  • Hi  and welcome to the Macmillan Community but so sorry to hear about your ongoing diagnosis.

Navigating the diagnosis journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' cancer type can help a lot.

I have been living with and been treated for 2 rare types of Lymphoma for the past 25 years...... some of the symptoms you have highlighted can be linked to Lymphoma..... but at the same time they can point to many other types of cancer.

This New to Community area is like our reception desk where we look to direct you to the best part of the Community for you to get support.

The Community is actually divided into dedicated Cancer Support Groups (Discussion Rooms)………… so should you eventually get a cancer diagnosis...... do have a look through this link Cancer Specific Groups you will find all our dedicated cancer support groups listed.

These groups are safe places to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from members who are navigating the exact same journey.

The Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear.

Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community.
