Hi everyone
I got the call today so get both colonoscopy & gastroscopy tues morn…. Relieved at knowing it’ll give some kind of answers (hopefully) at least
my symptoms have been ignored & it’s only drastic weight loss the past 3 weeks with a positive fit test, that got me any kind of consultation at all!
sending love to everyone awaiting tests or their biopsy results… ideas for managing that stress would be good please?
C Xx
Hi,
I had a colonoscopy last Monday and I am waiting for the biopsy results.
Sharing this experience has helped me and the forum is welcoming and supportive.
During the day, I have managed to cope reasonably well with support from my husband.
However, it can be a lonely place at night because your mind races to all different scenarios. I have found podcasts
useful as they distract me even for a short time. I also put on sleep music to create a calming atmosphere. Eventually,
sleep comes. Things always feel a bit better in the morning. Good luck on Tuesday, Sending love and kind wishes to
you. Take care and post whenever you need someone to reach out to.
Hi Country_Bumpkin and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I haven't had either of the procedures that you're having next week, I can imagine how you're probably feeling right now.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the bowel cancer and stomach cancer groups, as this will give you the chance to connect with others who have had these procedures.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your symptoms and tests you've had to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi IonaF and a very warm welcome to you too.
I can see that you've been replying to posts in lots of different groups but haven't yet joined one yourself.
The online community is divided into different support groups so as you've mentioned having a colonoscopy, I assume you're being investigated for bowel cancer. If this is the case, then joining the bowel cancer group would be a great place to join so that you can ask questions, share experiences and get support.
If I've assumed wrongly, as I can see you've replied to people with lots of different cancers, then take a look through this list to chose the right one for you.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
If you need any help navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
Hey
how are you doing today- any results?
also I’m left happy all clear gastroscopy wise but not colonoscopy wise.
no discharge as now awaiting histology & biopsy results. Is this normal to be told nothing to worry about then be given slightly different in writing?
can share snapshots for another’s perspective as even my mums read them as I now have
C Xx
Please could someone point me in the right direction…?
had gastroscopy & colonoscopy today
discharge notes do not make sense as actually I’m still under the 2ww pathway apparently for both- awaiting histology & cancer found x
If you look at my original reply to you, you'll see the links (bold green) to the groups where you'll find others who have had the same procedures as you.
Hope that helps
