My daughter has just started Chemo & it seems to be brutal. She was so sick in the night & she’s been admitted. They delayed treatment this morning but still persevered after doing a load of obs. Does it get any easier?

  • Hi  and warm welcome to the Macmillan Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your daughters Lymphoma diagnosis. I am Mike and I help out around our Lymphoma groups.

I don’t have Hodgkin's Lymphoma but for some context I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare (8 in a million) incurable but treatable type of Cutaneous T-Cell NHL (a type of slow growing Low-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma) ……. eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 when a second, also rare (4 in a million) type of aggressive Peripheral T-Cell - Not Otherwise Specified NHL (a type of fast growing High-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma) was then presenting so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ may be different I most definitely appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.

The first chemo is always full on as the body is coming to terms with what is going on....... but there is no one route that is the same. I had over 750hrs of chemo and we had to regularly change my anti-sickness meds as we went through the cycles...... I wont say it gets easier..... but my body did get used to the treatment.

Can I recommend that you join our dedicates......
