Hi all
i I have just returned home from hospital where I had been to get back pain checked out, to discover I have breast cancer which has spread to my spine and possibly liver. I am completely shellshocked and now await contact re treatment. I would love to hear your stories of getting through this first bit and how you live happily with this diagnosis.
Hi Alwayshopeful and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I can only begin to imagine what a shock it must have been for you to discover that you have cancer when you were only experiencing back pain.
The online community is divided into different support groups and I can see that you've already found and joined the secondary breast cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
When you feel ready, you can start a new post there in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi Anne
I wonder if you could help with a question about the group. Initially I was slightly confused with which groups to join. I have prostate cancer which had spread to the spine, hence, the surgery. I had joined the Spine Tumour group as well as this group not realising that prostate cancer moves to the spine.
Is there any advantage in remaining in the Spine group or should just focus on prostate group.
Appreciate your thoughts.

Hi Chappy123
There is certainly no harm in you staying in the spinal tumour group, but the treatment for those whose spinal tumour is a primary is likely to be different to you, where your cancer has spread there from your prostate.
However, I'd recommend that you post any further questions relating to your prostate cancer to the prostate cancer group.
I hope that all made sense.
Anne
