Losing a second husband to cancer. I can’t believe I’m going through this again

16 years ago I came on this site and set up a forum when my husband was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. It helped me a lot. Just having people to talk to, people that knew what I was going through. When I was scared, anxious, confused or just needed an ear to listen to me - I could not thank the people enough. He only survived for four and a half months. It was a truly dreadful time. He was my soulmate, my everything.
I remarried just over 2 years ago, and last year my husband was diagnosed with A Typical Carcinoid Neuroendocrine Lung Cancer. It has been a horrible time so far, and it has spread to many areas, and is now terminal. It’s not easy finding information on this either.
I know we are in for a challenging time ahead, and it’s massively worrying because I have to work, so can’t be with him as much as I’d like. He also has type 2 diabetes which he needs insulin and tablets for, and the diabetes and cancer definitely aggravate one another. He has many problems and is often in pain, though morphine, pregabalin, sevredol and cbd cream do help a lot with this cancer.
If anyone on here knows about this particular cancer, or even just wants a chat, no matter what the subject, I’m always happy to listen and try to be there for you too.
This is actually quite a lonely anxious and very stressful time to go through. I do have family and I wouldn’t be able to do this without them either, but sometimes you just want someone to talk to outside family.
Many Thanks for taking the time to read this x

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I'm sorry to read that you have reason to be back here again.

As you might remember, the online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the lung cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
