I firstly must apologise for where my cancer has appeared to the female gender but I cannot hide it as it is quite large!
I have had this lesion on my penis for some time! Been to the GP on several occasions and given several ointments and anti/biotics to no avail!.
Went to urology hospital and had a circumcise op. Then had a biopsye taken which diagnosed Bowmen's disease (pre cancer).
Attended St George’s hospital and Professor Watkins diagnosed invasive cancer!
I now have to undergo a skin transplant in 4 to 5 weeks time which may or may not solve the problem!
So if any of you have a lesion on your penis - do not wait for your GP to refer you to the urology dept. Admit yourself.
No apologies needed. You are right about having to be proactive. Sadly, GPs seem to be lacking in some aspects where cancer is concerned. Bowen's disease is linked to HPV which also is the major causal agent of oropharyngeal cancer...another cancer that is frequently misdiagnosed at primary care level.
There is a PENIS CANCER GROUP if you want to discuss this with others in the same boat. Just click on the link I made
I hope you make a full recovery....sending hugs.
Everybody......get your children and grandchildren vaccinated, don't ignore the invitation in secondary school. HPV doesn't just cause cervical cancer.
