Hi .
i have symptoms of bowel cancer and am having colonoscopy on Wednesday.
i have been here before but it turned out to be piles but this time it’s different.
i am absolutely petrified. I am scared of having to have a stoma.
its the waiting I think. Just need some reassurance.
thanks so much.
take care xxx
Hi Gill.
I was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer last October after my Colonoscopy and had the same fears as your having. Things moved quickly and I was amazed at how quick it was dealt with, the support and the staff who put me at my ease. My cancer was removed and didn't require a stoma, so it isn't automatic.
Try not to worry and just go with the flow. Good luck with your treatment for whatever it is
Hi Gill1316 and ekimjo and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the bowel cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and any treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Thank you so much for replying and giving me some reassurance. I must admit I am getting very scared as the appointment gets nearer. I will do as you say and try to stay calm and go with it.
Thank you again for your kindness.
Will let you know what happens.
Thank you so much.
Kind regards to you. I'm so glad your treatment has worked. Xxx
I hope all goes well.
I am now on the no food until after it's done. Completely freaked out I'm sure i will have a panic attack. I'm shaking now just thinking about it.
Will let you know tomorrow my appt is at 3.30
Thank you for being so kind.
Best wishes
Gill
Hi. Just left the hospital.
I do not have bowel cancer but colitis was in there for over 2 hours they were very kind and reasurring. Have to wait to see a specialist in colitis. I have been so very lucky and your kindness has helped greatly.
I would like to keep in touch if that is OK with you. Hoping the chemo goes well.
Please stay in touch .
Once again thanks for your kindness.
Kind regards
Gill
