Ive recently been told on the phone I have

Differential diagnosis of high grade endometrial carcinoma of ambiguous histology involving the endocervical/isthmic region of the uterus or a HPV - independent cervical adenocarcinoma. Further imaging and discussion in SMDT required

ive just had my CT scan and MRI scan im no waiting for results an what treatment is required

I dont no how to tell my daughter she is 18 an currently studying to become a nurse

I thought it would be best to tell her when I have my results

but know Im told by a family friend I should tell her know so she understands whats going on and she can support me

i havent even come to terms with being told I have cancer

my head is completely wrecked I carnt sleep just about eating

I just feel like telling my daughter is gonna destroy her

any advice please

  • Hi

My daughter suffers from health anxiety and to compound matters lives in Germany. All my early communications had to be via W*atsapp and Zoom. I waited till I had a treatment plan in place.

Youngsters continually surprise me. She coped really well. I don't think I would have been so lucky if I had involved her in all the fear and angst of the early days.

Go with your head and heart. It's your cancer, not your family friend's. Sorry if that seems blunt but sometimes friends and family might be best left out of it.

  • Hi Tacky38

I am currently having a similar dilemma.  My dad has recently been diagnosed with kidney and lung cancer and my son is studying abroad. We don't know what to do for the best tell him or wait.  I think as parents we always want to protect our kids but forget how strong they can be.  I hope you are staying strong and you are both well whatever you decide
