Hi. To everyone.
I'm new to this community.
On Tuesday of this week my husband went for a routine chest x ray a lesion was seen & had a contrast ct scan after x ray.
Approx 2 months ago we both had chest infections both had antibiotics I guess the infections lasted about a month or so.
My husband suffered a stroke 8 yrs ago & has to have regular check ups. He had his normal telephone GP review & discussed the chest infection & also some swelling in his right hand & legs. Which he has suffered with since the stroke, but this time ithe swelling is much worse.
So the GP sent him for the X Ray.
We saw the GP yesterday to discuss results all his bloods are normal except a slight change in liver enzymes. The ct scan showed a lesion of either 5mm or 5cms TBH I cant remember as I'm numb with shock this is even happening. The hospital is ringing Monday for him to have a breathing test & the GP then his results will be discussed by a medical team.
My husband hasnt had a cough, coughed up blood, not breathless.
We're both sick with worry & still in shock, that this is even happening.
Can anyone advise if they have been through the same thing? What else can these lesions be apart from cancer...on my side of the family I have lost in excess of 18 members to cancer, so cancer haunts me daily.
Thank you for reading this....
Hi Tillyboo and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but so sorry to hear about your husbands ongoing diagnosis.
The diagnosis journey can be such a challenging and stressful time….. but the members of this community are not in a position to advise you as to what this can be…… in all honesty it could be anything but let’s hope it’s not cancer.
But if he is diagnosed with a type of cancer getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' cancer or cancer support challenges will help you a lot.
This New to Community area is like our reception desk where we try to direct you to the best part of the Community for you to get support.

As for the practical and emotional challenges of supporting your husband and indeed yourself you may benefit from joining and posting in our……..

Just a further update.
I had a call & my husbands been referred for a PET scan at the Royal Marsden ( because thats the only hospital that as that type of scanner. I was told) hes also being referred for a head scan MRI at our local hospital.
Its a 5cm lower right lung lesion with an inflamed lymph node.
We both know this outcome is going to be bad, but cant understand how he as no symptoms.
Just stunned by everything, its like looking down on someone else. I'm trying to be strong for him, but not coping very well & keeping it hidden from him.
Hi again Tillyboo …… these times are indeed challenging. PET scans are often used although I have not had one over my 25 years but I had plenty CT scans and a few MRIs.
Although I was diagnosed way back in 1999 with a rare incurable type of None Hodgkins Lymphoma then a second type of None Hodgkins Lymphoma…. also rare appeared in late 2013 taking me to stage 4 I am still here living a great life.
Back in 2012 a regular CT showed something on my Lung …… I had a CT guided Lung biopsy and it showed that is had Asbestosis……. But this has remained stable to this day……. But for the first 14 years apart from skin like I had bad Psoriasis I had no other symptoms….. I actually continued to work in a demanding teaching job for the the first 12 years.
Remember that the support line is always there to have a chat.
Lets look for answers soon ((hugs))
Thank you. I just had a very bad panic attack & not wanting my husband to see me like it, as I'm normally very calm.
