Hi.
We received a diagnosis of Primary CNS Lymphoma for my Mum 2 days ago. She went from working full time providing palliative care to people in their homes to being seriously unwell, literally overnight, last August. It's taken until now to get the diagnosis so it's 50/50 whether the treatment will help. Sh3 starts MATRIX Chemo on Monday. I don't really know what I'm expecting here, but here I am.
Hi HelzBelz231 and warm welcome to the Macmillan Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your mum’s CNS Lymphoma diagnosis.
I am Mike and I help out around our Lymphoma groups. i don’t have CNS Lymphoma but for some context I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare (8 in a million) incurable but treatable type of Cutaneous T-Cell NHL (a type of slow growing Low-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma) ……. eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 when a second, also rare (4 in a million) type of aggressive Peripheral T-Cell - Not Otherwise Specified NHL (a type of fast growing High-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma) was then presenting so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ my be different I most definitely appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.
This New to Community area is like our reception desk where we look to try and direct you to the best part of the Community for you to get support.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) so can I recommend that you look to join and put up your own post in our dedicated…..
General Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma
…… support group.
This group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from patients and caregivers.
Click on the link above and once the group page opens you will see a [Black - Click to Join - Banner] at the bottom of the page, click in this box and this will then confirm that you have joined the group.
You can then introduce yourself to the group by putting up your very own post by clicking [+ Create new post] or [+] in the top right of the group page.
You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
I will keep an eye open for you but if you are not sure what type you have pleased do get back to me on this post and I will help you out further.
Hi HelzBelz231, and a warm welcome from me, to the forum, though I'm so sorry you find yourself here, and your wonderful mum, I see Mike (Thehighlander), has given some wonderful advice, but from someone else who worked in palliative care and now finds themselves being cared for, I hope you find all the support, advice, care and friendship the community offers, helps you as much as it's helped so many across all the forums.
My very best wishes for you and your mum, and I will have everything crossed the chemotherapy is as successful as we all hope,
Eddie xx
