Hi All
A little introduction.
I was diagnosed with womb cancer last July and had a hysterectomy on 29th July, unfortunately my wound took 12 weeks to heal (infection & diabetes didn't help) having to have daily dressing changes, the nurses were great and helped to keep my spirits up.
I had 25 rounds of radiotherapy and 2 brachytherapies finishing at the end of November. I started chemo on 15th January and my oncologist has predicted 4-6 rounds. My husband has been extremely supportive, being retired he's been with me all the way and of course took on all the "pink jobs" while I recovered from my op.
I have a grown up daughter & son, and luckily, also have a GP for a daughter-in-law who has been most helpful too with information & support.
If I can help anyone with information of my experience please feel free to ask.
Hi Sbird and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and it's great that you want to share your experiences with womb cancer to help others.
I can see that you've already found and joined the womb cancer group and, when you feel ready, you can start a new post there in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hello, I have had 3 rounds of radiotherapy with 20 to go. Just started getting the bowel issue and was wondering if you still had to use the mini enemas before treatment when the diarrhoea kicks in.
I didn't have to use any mini enemas, speak to your Specialist Nurse for advice.
I suffered quite a bit with diarrhoea while having radiotherapy and was supplied with loperamide (I have enough to supply a small army lol).
I had a hysterectomy which was low grade and was referred to our cancer hospital for the radiotherapy as I didn’t have the Pole gene. As the radiotherapy is concentrated on the vaginal area I have to use the mini enema and drink two cups of water every session so they bladder and bowels are the same.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
