Just wanted to say hello. My husband has been recently diagnosed with brain cancer. He was lucky and underwent surgery quickly which removed the tumour so now 'looking forward' to chemo and radiotherapy beginning together in the next few weeks. We have a family of two young teenagers and are trying to keep everything as positive as possible for them. Any advice would be appreciated to do with any of the above as I'm struggling with all the information out there. TIA

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community

The online community is divided into different support groups and I can see that you've already found and joined the glioblastoma multiforme brain tumour group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

When you feel ready to post there you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

Another group which I think you'd benefit from joining is the carers only group as this will give you the chance to talk to others who are looking after someone with cancer and where you can find out how they helped their children.

You might also find this Macmillan booklet on talking to children and teenagers when an adult has cancer helpful to look through.

It would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
