Christmas - looking ahead

I had a nice Christmas, I enjoyed being with my family.  But I am wishing  the time away.  I need it to be 6 January, this is when I have the first appointment with the team that will be deciding on the treatment I am going to receive.  I have been told I have a sarcoma, I have had an MRI scan and a biopsy.  I haven't been told anything else.  I know that I will need an operation.  I keep acting out what they will say to me.  I think the worst.  I was, until a few months ago a very active 74 year old.  I could walk 12 miles easily, now I can manage a few steps,  Anyway, as I am 74, am I too old to hope.  Thank you

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I haven't had the same type of cancer, I know what a distressing time this will be for you.

The online community is divided into different support groups and I can see that you've already found and joined the soft tissue sarcoma group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

When you feel ready to post you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Please don't give up hope as cancer treatment has come on so much and 74 is definitely not too old to lose hope.

    ((hugs))
