Mental support post treatment

My daughter was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2021 when she was 17. This was at the height of Covid. She had very intensive chemo and a huge operation replacing her hip joint, femur, knee and part of her shin. Although well into remission she has significant mental scars and her ongoing pain mearns is desperate for some help to deal with these issues . Can anyone please recommend a specialist organisation who can help her deal with the mental scars preferably on a 1:1 basis. I’m (almost) a pensioner and have limited funds but would happily pay to get help for her. Thank you.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but so sorry to hear about your daughter.

Navigating the post treatment journey can be ever so challenging so getting support is very important so can I suggest the following….

Call the Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear.

We also have our Ask an Expert section as you can ask your question to our experts but do allow 3 working days for a reply

Check to see if you have any walk in Local Macmillan Support in your area.

Do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and provide 1 on 1 support.

Do get back to me if you need further help ((hugs))
