Just wanted to say hi. Got my diagnosis today of stage 3 lung cancer, I am expecting an invite for meeting with oncologist next week to get my treatment plan and hope to start a combined therapy of chemo and radiotherapy within 4 weeks.
Loolong on here to get tips and any advice on how to get through the next however many months. Scared does not cover it really but I am facing this head on and determined. I am hoping one day to help someone random like me to get through these next months.
I had Covid in August, followed by the most awful mouth ulcers and then my darling dog of 13 years passed away, so I thought my immune system had taken a battering and the lingering cough was just being awkward but then I started getting dizzy. An online visit to 111 sent me to the local AandE a chest X-ray showed a shadow. You know the rest, so I am lucky in a bizarre way to have been diagnosed as it’s a slow grower and not given me any symptoms other than the post covid niggly cough.
Take care and be kind to you. Do say hello though as it feels pretty lonely already.
Hi Bestboy and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the lung cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join, just click on the links I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment plan into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
