I want to ask a general question about bowel cancer. I am not sure what is happening. I saw my oncologist yesterday and mentioned I may also have bowel cancer. Following colonoscopy I have a lateral spreading polyp of 3.5 x2.5 cms. Granular. The colonoscopist could not remove it at the local hospital and I am referred to a different hospital, but the appointment for the next colonoscopy is not until March and I am very frightened. The photos of the polyp show lots of mucous, and this comes out regularly and ruins my day. It means wearing incontinence pants if I go out. There are also blood streaks in the pants.
I just had a clear annual mammogram following breast cancer two years ago, so I mentioned this to my oncologist yesterday. Of course she is in a different department. I am scared that waiting may mean a spread and mastasticising? I had the last colonoscopy two years ago when a couple of little polyps were removed, but it was clear otherwise., and now this large polyp is there rather quickly. How quickly do these things grow? Is it likely to be dangerous? I have read so much on the subject, I gather it may well be precancerous? or cancerous on the Paris scale??
Please can you help me. I am not sure where I should post my query?
Thank you for being there.
Roux
Hi Roux and a very warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but sorry to hear about your ongoing diagnosis challenges.
Navigating a diagnosis journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but getting support from people who have walked or are walking the ‘exact same' journey can help a lot. (I have a completely different cancer).
This New to Community area is like our reception desk where we look to try and direct you to the best part of the Community for you to get support.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) so can I recommend that you look to join and put up your own post in our dedicated Bowel Cancer Support Group.
This group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support. To connect in with the group please click on the link below…….
