Hi there I’ve current joined the group and wanted to add my bit.
it’s been a hell of a year I can tell you! So in 2002 at the age of 28 I got diagnosed with grade 2 hormone positive breast cancer in my right breast, I had a lumpectomy, which didn’t come back with clear margins so went on to have my chemotherapy, after that I had a full mastectomy with immediate reconstruction using my stomach muscle, which they swing up under my skin and sew making a new breast, also using the fat from my tummy ( a operation they no longer do) a very lengthy procedure, leaving me with a hip to hip scar, but great results, I spent 2 weeks in hospital, but recovered well. Was taking tamoxifen for 5 years after treatments.

Lets go to this year, I was suffering with excruciating migraines, balance issues, dizziness, numbness in my right arm, visual problems, the list goes on, I was given neck MRI’s then later a head MRI, they discovered a brain tumour, which thankfully turned out to be a grade 1 meningioma (not cancerous) which I had a craniotomy to remove in June this year, they gave me a CAT scan as they knew I’d previously suffered from breast cancer and blow me, after 22 years it was discovered I had breast cancer again, and also in my lymph nodes. At the end of September I had another mastectomy with immediate reconstruction using a silicone implant. I’ve just recently had my first of 6 chemotherapy every 3 weeks apart, to then be followed by radiotherapy, 15 fractions, then onto Adjuvant antihormonal therapy with Letrozole 2.5mg (tablet) once daily for 7 years and Prostap 11.25mg 3 monthly (usually inhibits ovulation and stops menstruation) injections for 5 years.
It has amazed me just how much cancer treatments have come along so much since my last diagnosis, it’s amazing.

wishing everyone going through a similar thing all the love and hugs, having support is amazing and goes a long way to recovery. X
