Hiya,

My mother in law has terminal pancreatic cancer which was diagnosed on my birthday. Her and my partner are so similar and she has been the main parent to my partner as my father in law has been quite absent. We are really close and it is hard to see her in such a lot of pain and her life made smaller. She was given 6 - 9 months and has been having regular chemo which has helped extend this time. She lives 200 miles away so we have been travelling regularly to stay and care for her. Alongside this my dad had a heart attack with three surgeries, my auntie had a heart attack with one surgery and my grandad died this year. I joined this group as I’m struggling a lot and want to help caring for my family as best as I can, and find ways to continue coping. Thank you for listening any suggestions on how to cope would be appreciated!

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It sounds like you're going through a very difficult time and it's not surprising that you feel that you're struggling.

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the supporting someone with incurable cancer group which is for anyone who has someone with a terminal diagnosis. There you can discuss your emotions, as well as practical issues, and get support.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

If you have any problem navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
