Hello everyone,
I am in this site for my father, he is 69 years old. in the beginning of 2023 my father lost his voice which I though its nothing and he got cold. His voice came back but after two month he lost again his voice and finally in June 2023 they did a biopsy and diagnosed with carcinoma 1
They did the first operation which he had the voice back, but than he lost it again. The doctors advised that my father has to do complete laryngectomy which was very difficult to accept it. My father he wanted to go again under.
Finally my father did the complete laryngectomy in June 2024 this year, he started to eat normally without problems, and started radiotherapy after 3 months.
Gradually he started to have difficulties eating and we were obliged to put a stoma tube on his stomach in order to feed him.
I just want to understand does someone has the same story to make us feel little bit better.
Thank you
Hi Ramy32 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your father has cancer of the larynx and it's natural to want to hear about other people's experiences.
As the online community is divided into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the larynx cancer group which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences with others who have had the same procedures as your father.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your father's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
