Not sure if this is the right place to post.

About 6-7 weeks ago I had clots in my stool. Saw my GP and she ordered a load of tests, things came back ok. qFIT was <10

I went on to have further bleeding, the clots becoming darker and the smell was quite something.

At a review with my GP, she suggested we repeat the tests at 6 weeks post original tests.

This time my qFIT test came back >400. A massive shock as the sample I gave didn't have any visible blood at that time.

My ferritin (still in normal range) has dropped more than half in that 6 weeks, despite taking iron tablets.

I'm only 30, but I'm pretty scared. I'm a professional overthinker and excellent at catastrophising.

I don't know how worried I should be.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It sounds like a difficult time for you right now so I can understand you wanting to find others who have been on a similar path to you.

As the online community is divided into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the bowel cancer group which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences with others who have been through similar tests to you.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your tests to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
