Hi

Hope all (you and yours) are doing as well as can be expected

I was told about 2 weeks ago. Haven't told anyone yet as waiting on some further results.

Also, my only family member in UK has terminal cancer (not immediate family who are all abroad) and I just helped one of my oldest friends through her last weeks.

Perhaps it's shock and grieving but I don't feel anything for myself at all ...

I thought I'd best talk to someone - so here I am!

Have joined Pets are family and vaginal cancer forums too

Best wishes

  • Hi Ab0104 you have been dealing with a lot. I think it's perfectly normal to feel nothing after diagnosis and having that on top of the other stuff you are coping with. You may not feel it right now but I think you are strong. I haven't been using these forums long but everyone I have interacted with have been supportive with kind words and tips. You have come to the right place. Sending hugs. X

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but sorry to hear about your diagnosis and to hear about your family a friends.

Navigating a cancer journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but getting support from people who have walked or are walking the ‘exact same' journey can help a lot.

This New to Community area is like our reception desk where we look to try and direct you to the best part of the Community for you to get support. The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms)…… but I do see that you have already joined some of our support groups and put up a post.

The Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear.

Talking to people ‘face to face’ can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.

Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community.

  • Hi Ab0104 - I have only just joined this group and I seem to be in similar position as you. I was told I have womb cancer 2 days ago I had a CT scan yesterday to see if cancer had spread outside womb. My emotions are all over the place and I don't know how to feel or how I am supposed to feel and now have to wait for results of CT scan which is horrible!  I know it's silly but I am really worried about my dog and at the moment only want to keep going for her as she was a rescue and her previous owner died from cancer.  I also haven't told family and they live 250 miles away.

Hop it all goes well for you!

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to you but sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

This group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support. To connect in with the group please click on the link below…….
