Hello I am new to this group.
I have an option to have chemo treatment using a pump at home for 24 hour periods every three weeks.
has anybody experience of these please

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

As the online community is divided into different support forums the best way of finding people's experiences on using a chemo pump at home is to join the appropriate forum depending on the type of cancer that you have.

You can either look through this list, choose the appropriate one and join or let me know which type of cancer you have and I'll provide you with a direct link to that forum.

Once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Donkey1 my cancer is different to yours but I had a home pump for 5 days at the beginning of my treatment and will have it again for 5 days at the end. It was attached to my picc line in my arm and I had a net bag to carry it around in either over the shoulder or around my neck. I did find it annoying and washing etc was not the easiest but doable. Don't know if that is of any help to you or not. X
