I’m new here. My husband has tonsil cancer and there was cancerous lymph nodes in the neck. He had chemo and radiation, he’s seven months out and he had a biopsy on neck and there was a cancerous lymph nodes, so treatment didn’t get it all. Then he had a neck dissection two weeks ago so recovering. Now the dr said there micro cancerous cells so probably will do more chemo, that’s not what we wanted to hear. He’s 78 so that’s hard at this age. We talk to Dr tomorrow maybe there’s other options. Did anyone have this happen? We’re both so worried.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It sounds like you and your husband have been through a tough time and it's natural to be worried.

As the online community is divided into different support forums I'm going to recommend that you join the head and neck cancer forum which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • My son with a different cancer had microscopic cancer cells found post op. Though not in lymph glands. They gave him 30 sessions of radiotherapy to zap them. Finished radio  just over a month ago. No recurrence now but it's much too early for it to show as yet
