Metastatic Spread of Prostate Cancer

My husband, aged 64.11 years, was just told his prostate cancer has spread to the lymph nodes in the abdomen and pelvis, the same areas he had radiation, from October 2023 thru December 2023. Also clusters seen in liver and bone behind the chest. He has lost weight. Is very painful and achy. Oncologist added bicalimutide to the zoladex he's still on, but had to reduce it to one tablet daily versus 3, due to weight loss, vomiting, loss of bone strength, lethargy. He has difficulty holding down food, and by food, I'm blending/pureeing his foods to ease with digestion. He began bone infusion therapy this week. Has issues with constipation and started taking Colace 2-3 times daily and Dulcolax liquid 1-2 times daily. I'm just exhausted, depressed and need hope.

  • Hi  and I am sorry to read about your husbands journey and that you are having a hard time.

This New to Community area is like our reception desk where we look to direct you to the best part of the Community for you to get support.

As you know the Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms)…….   but I do see that you have already been posting in our dedicated Prostate cancer support group.

This group is a safe places to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from family members who are navigating the same support journey.

As for the practical and emotional challenges of supporting your husband and indeed yourself you may benefit from joining and posting in our……

             Carers only

……. support group where you will connect with a wide range of members navigating the exact same support challenges.

It is an emotional time supporting family so you might find this Macmillan information your feelings when someone has cancer helpful as well as this link getting help with your emotions.

The Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support or just a listening ear.

Talking to people ‘face to face’ can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.

Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community ((hugs))

  • Thanks very much for replying to me, Thehighlander. I also read your bio and I'm truly in awe that you can take time out to respond to me, after all that has gone on with you, but yours is a story of hope, and one that I'm grateful for. I will also visit5the Carers Page.

  • We all do what we need to do to keep ahead of the beast…… you will get great help on the carers group.
