Hi,

I have been diagnosed with stage 4 advanced metastatic kidney cancer.  I am currently A symptomatic.   I have seen my Oncologist at the end of sept 24 and I am awaiting further scans.  Meantime I need to get a dental checkup, Transthoracic Echocardiogram.  Once all complete my Oncologist will advise the next course of action.  The metastatic cancer has occured in my LH bronchial tube about 2 to 3 cm based on my last scan June 24.  No ideas what the next one will show.  Because it's close to major organs they cannot provide chemo or radiation therapy.  If the cancer is contained to left Hilary region they may liaise with Clinical Oncology to discuss the option of a high dose Radiotherapy to offer disease control.  Drug treatments may include TKI's and immunotherapy.

I have accepted what I have now and my main concern is my children aged 12 and 10.  I am preparing a will and want to look into leaving gifts or letters or videos for when they reach 18.  Sounds daft but something I really want to do.

Can anyone offer any advice on what to do?

Many Thanks

Stevie G

  • Hi Stevie/ and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It sounds like you've been through a lot recently so I can understand you wanting to find others who have been on a similar path to you.

As the online community is divided into different support forums I'm going to recommend that you join the lung cancer forum which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. There is an organisation called "will aid" (google it) which will make you a solicitor drawn up will in return for suggested £100 donation to charity. If they have no solicitor near you you can do it online.

  • PS I would add that when I lost my son to cancer nearly 4 years ago, I was very sad that I had forgotten to make a recording of his voice, so now I can never hear it again. Some kind of record of your voice would be nice for your kids to have as well as photos.
