Hi there,
Im a 40 year old mother of 2 and found a breast lump at the beginning of June. Mammogram showed lots of them and all were benign but did find a cluster of microcalcifications in one breast. They did a magnified mammogram and then recalled me for a vacuum assisted biopsy. I’ve spoken to the breast nurse today who says they’re happy it not invasive but that the cells were abnormal (a 3 on the scale, if that means anything?!) and I need to go back and have another one.
she wouldn’t speculate on what it could mean (quite understandably!) but the whole thing feels like torture and that it’s been going on forever!
I have a family history of cancer and so that’s in my mind and so am wondering if they might think it’s non-invasive and that why I’ve got to go back? Or what else it could be?
I'm obviously relieved there’s nothing invasive and feel very lucky, but still worried and wondering if anyone else has been through similar?
thank you ️
Hi KateJj and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
It 's natural to be worried when you don't know why you've been recalled but hopefully everything will turn out okay for you.
The online community is divided into different support forums so I'm going to recommend that you join the main breast cancer forum and also the breast cancer for the under-50s forum which are great places to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join, just click on the links I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and tests to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Thank you so much for helping me with this! I shall do just that!
I really appreciate it x
