My son aged 41 has just been diagnosed with rectal and secondary liver cancer. Devastating news, though he's been told its treatable with surgery and chemotherapy.

How do you cope with this as a parent? I live alone 70 miles away from him and his family. He has 7 Yr old twin boys.

  • I am so very sorry to hear this. I hope his treatment is successful. Maybe you could offer to help with the boys while he and his partner are under so much stress. I know how hard it is coping with an adult child's cancer especially when he is so young. My middle son also had cancer when he was young (40). I believe it is always hardest on the mother. After all we have known our children nine months longer than everyone else. Sending hugs.
