Hi everyone

This has been a long tough road for us, back at the queen's jubilee my wife took ill, a couple of months later they had to operate and found a tumor.  We were told gallbladder cancer stage 3, they removed her gallbladder bladder and the tumor.  She then went through chemotherapy.  Last July we were told the scans look great and she looked clear.  She gets scans every 3 months, unfortunately in November we were told the cancer is back and now stage 4 and terminal with anywhere between 1 - 2 years

She is under going chemo again and immunotherapy this time.

The other day my wife announced she only has 17 months worth of immunotherapy left and that really upset me I couldn't see the positive side.  My doctor has put me on tablets and sleeping tablets.  We have a 16 year old son, we have put a bucket list together and have done a couple of things on the list.

I find sometimes I wobble and shut down with her and my son and can take me days to get out the dark hole.

Hope this makes sense from an old 50 year old guy who is dyslexic and not the best with tech

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your wife's cancer has recurred and she's now treatable but not curable. It must be an incredibly stressful time for the whole family.

The online community is divided into different support forums so I'm going to recommend that you join the gallbladder cancer forum, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences with others who have a similar diagnosis to your wife, and also the supporting someone with incurable cancer forum, which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your emotions.

To join, just click on the links I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your wife's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
