Rib & Lower back pain

So this October i will be 7 years clear from bilateral breast cancer.  About 6 weeks ago I started to feel a sensation between my ribs that feels as if I have some kind of growth.  There are no visual signs of lumps or swelling but when my GP pressed around the ribs under my right breast I nearly went through the ceiling.  Since then I’ve developed lower back pain and also pains in my hips which I’ve had on and off from the Anastrazole.  I’m absolutely petrified that I have secondary bone cancer that is spreading.  I’ve seen my breast consultant and he is happy there are no changes to my breasts and has referred me for a bone scan which I’m now waiting for.  Every time I sit down I feel like there is something in my mid stomach area and I can feel it in my back too.  Would be keen to hear if anyone has had similar and what your outcome was.  Desperate to put my mind at ease as my husband is about to have surgery for an extremely rare abdominal cancer so I need all my strength to look after and support him.  Thank you all x

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It's always nerve wracking waiting for scans, biopsies, results, etc so so I can understand you wanting to find others who have been on a similar path to you.

As the online community is divided into different support forums I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer forum and secondary breast cancer forum which are great places to see if others have experienced anything similar to your current symptoms.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your previous cancer diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
