Hi

i I am new to the community and have recently has a mastectomy which I am struggling to cope with, wish I had never had it done. I am in pain and tired a lot of the time. Just gone back to work on reduced hours.  My problem is I was told it was the lowest grade of cancer - encysted papillary carcinoma in situ. It started In 2020 and I had further operations in 2021 and 2023. I had re-excisions of the margins, totalling 5 operations altogether. It was not life threatening or spreading so I just feel lost.  I appreciate there are lots of people going through far worse than me.

thanks for listening.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you're in pain and tired since having your mastectomy and I can understand why you wished you hadn't had it done.

As the online community is divided into different support forums I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer forum as you'll then connect directly with others who had a mastectomy and may experience similar side effects to you.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
