Hi
i had a smear on the 22nd January, got results on the 9th feb saying abnormal, got referred had my appointment on 14th feb, they found a lump on my vagina wall and done a LLETZ on my cervix, took 5 biopsy’s (witch I thought was a lot)
this week has been so hard and my head has gone to some very dark thoughts! I have had 5 people (family and best friend) die of cancer in the last 31/2 years. I haven’t been to work this week DR signed me off and said to keep myself busy with the things that I love!! I haven’t told anyone only my partner as I don’t want them to worry if there’s nothing to worry about.
I don’t really have a question just wanted to chat
Hi Tulipsunflower and a very warm welcome to the Community but sorry to hear about your ongoing diagnoses.
Navigating the diagnosis journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but getting support from people who have walked the ‘exact same' journey can help a lot.
The New to Community is like our reception desk where we look to direct you to the best part of the Community for you to get support. The Community is divided into dedicated Cancer Support Groups (Discussion Rooms)…… but I can see that you have already joined our dedicated Cervical Cancer support group. This is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
To connect in with the group click on this link
…… then once the group page opens you can introduce yourself by clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title. You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
You may find it helpful to call the Macmillan Support Line open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support or just a listening ear. We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow 3 working days for a reply.
Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community ((hugs))
Hi Tulipsunflower and can I add a welcome to the community.
I help out in the cervical cancer group, so I’ll hope you’ll take Mike’s suggestion to post in there. Even if you don’t have any particular questions at the moment you are welcome to come and chat as you wait for your results. There will be support for you there as you go through the diagnostic process and beyond if you have a cancer diagnosis, as many of us have been through this and know just how it feels.
Sarah xx
