  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you're struggling to find food that you'd like to eat and that you have a dry mouth.

The online community is divided into different support forums where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support. As you haven't said what type of cancer you have, can I recommend that you look through this list to choose the right group for you. Alternatively you could let me know what type of cancer you have and I can give you a direct link to the group.

Once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be really helpful if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Thank you i will do this tomorrow

  • I have a dry mouth especially at night. (Not from cancer). I have found some tablets called "Xylimelts" are magic, and completely stop my dry mouth at night. The packet says you can use them in the day. However, as they stick to your gum it would be difficult to eat without dislodging them. However maybe you could use them and 5hen eat immediately after they had worked???

  • Hi Selig

My mouth is often very dry, and I find some foods difficult to cope with. I've found yoghourts really helpful, and fruits with high water content, such as ripe pears, watermelon, fresh pineapple, grapes, strawberries. Pasta with plenty of sauce is also manageable for me.

If your problem continues, a chat with a dietician could help. Not sure how you can access this easily though.

    Hope it soon improves!

  • Hi there, I have something called Sjogrens Syndrome, which I have had for about 10 years, symptoms are dry eyes and dry mouth, have you ever been diagnosed with this? I use Biotene mouthwash and toothpaste as find it’s much better than ordinary toothpaste and has more fluoride, keeps my mouth from not going dry. I also suck on sugar free fruit drops by Sula which might help you.
