Hi all. My husband was diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer in October 2022. We were told from the beginning that this was incurable and inoperable but chemotherapy would be used to stabilise it. He’s had 3 types of chemotherapy and been on a drug trial all to no avail. Yesterday we heard all the details from his recent scan which shows cancer in Liver, Lungs, stomach and now in the abdominal cavity. He’s weak, tired and uncomfortable. We’ve not been given any timelines and they are keen to get him back on chemotherapy.
We have 2 teenage boys who know about the illness and are kept up to date but how on earth do we talk to them about dying??
Hell Fozza I am so sorry to read about your situation and you have my sympathy here.
It's a problem telling children and teenagers, however MacMillan have a great publication with lots of practical advice and I have posted a link to this below, You can download a copy of the publication from the link
If i can do anything else for you please let me know.
Best wishes - Brian.
