Hi, I have joined the community to ask if anyone has experienced having a tumor growing within the vagina. This is happening to my partner and have found it hard to gain information about this problem. She has been told the usual methods of treatment, chemo and radio, but what would be helpful is what future would look like. She cannot sit without being very uncomfortable nor could she stand up for the rest of her life. Can anyone offer any help or advice as to cushions etc. Thank you in advance.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your partner has been diagnosed with vaginal cancer and that she is in a lot of pain.

The online community is divided into different support forums so I'm going to recommend that you join the vaginal cancer forum as you'll then connect directly with others who have this type of cancer.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your partner's diagnosis and suggested treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • I'm sorry to hear that. Possibly the rubber ring like the ones kids have in the swimming pool might help. It helped a friend of mine from discomfort after having twins.

  • Thank you for your reply and yes a ring has been suggested so will obtain one. regards

  • Or maybe even in the meantime you might be able to improvise with one of those U shaped soft collar things that people wear round their necks while travelling. Its quite bad enough dealing with having cancer  without having unnecessary discomfort. I wish you both well.
