Hi, I'm new here, I've undergone two lumpectomies and SNB and I've been advised not to do any strenuous exercise like running and weight lifting until 10 weeks. I'm now 6 weeks post second lumpectomy and desperate to go for a gentle run (and may be wear two sports bras). Did anyone go back to running before the 10 weeks and if so, did it cause any problems? Thanks
Hi Willow, i can only comment on a friends journey. She was an avid runner and was told the same advice as yourself. No running for 10/12 weeks she chose to ignore said advice and went running around 7 weeks. It was advice she wishes she had taken. she said she felt as if she had made her recovery longer by doing so. Her lumpectomy scares were sore and very sensative and her words were she felt she had aching breasts for quite a while. Hope this helps
Hi Wi11ow and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I didn't do any strenuous exercise after having my lumpectomy and SLNB but I did go out for gentle walks.
The online community is divided into different support forums so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer forum where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Thank you for the link and the advice, I'll do that.
