Hi, I'm Andrea a newbie Relaxed️.

I'm finding it difficult coping with my hair or rather lack of.

I'm looking around to see what may suit me as in headgear?

Wearing bangs, as its mainly my fringe where its gone from as well as a huge amount from my thickness of hair loss.

Thinking really of trying Bangs, or Toppers and other headgear.

Skin of course is pale so I've bought face tan Wipes as I don't really do makeup as a rule.

What is so annoying and makes me angry is I had a phonecall from one of the Nurses at my local Windmill Unit at my local hospital.

Where when she asked how I was I general?, I said I was concerned about my hair loss.

Her very next comment was,

" your medication doesn't cause hair loss ".

I've an appointment to see a Nurse 8/1/24.

At the Windmill Unit.

I have a few choice words to say .

Anyway I'm seeing my Oncologist on 18th January, so so appointments are in the pipeline.

Andrea x

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community.

Hair lose can be a challenge, I have lost all my hair a few times over my 25 years treatment journey - it’s just one of the down sides of treatment.

Navigating the cancer journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' cancer type can help a lot.

The New to Community is like our reception desk where we look to direct you to the best part of the Community for you to get support. The Community is divided into dedicated Cancer Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) but you don’t say what type of cancer you have but if you care to have a look through THIS LIST you will find all our many dedicated cancer support groups listed.

These groups are safe places to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from members who are navigating the same journey.

Have a look through the list I have given you above and once you find the group for your cancer type you can join the group by selecting “Click to Join” when the black banner appears or “Join” under “Group Tools” (this all depends on the device you are using)

You can then put up your own post when you’re ready by clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title. You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.

It’s a challenging time for you so you may want to use the Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear.

Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.

Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community.
