Hi I am starting to have a lot of anxiety I’m going in for a mastectomy tomorrow Dec 11 not sure what to expect and not sure what foods are good to eat prior to surgery if there is anyone out there that can help ease my anxiety that would be great the doctor doesn’t think that there is any lymph node involvement so I think that’s a good sign. Just need to be put at ease.  Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll both find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It's natural to worry about your upcoming surgery but the nursing staff will all take great care of you. I was scared about having a cannula in my hand but if you tell the nurses what is worrying you they'll do their best to help you.

The online community is divided into different support forums and I can see you've already found and posted in the breast cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support. Your post there has had a reply so if you pop back there you'll be able to read your reply.

When you feel up to it, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any problems negotiating the community just reply to me and I'll be pleased to help if I can.
