Hi I have breast cancer help
Hi allyarn and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that you have breast cancer and it's natural to look for help. I was diagnosed myself 18 months ago and found the online community invaluable.
As the online community is divided into different support forums, I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer forum where you'll connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined the forum, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and any treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi have breast cancer stage 2. Diagnosed 2 weeks ago. Surgeon said that people like me a mastectomy is recommended. I said no. There must be another way. He said he might be able to do a partial but it depends on the results from the MRI. MRI inconclusive so I had more biopsies done. Awaiting those results next Thursday.
I hope that you're able to have treatment that suits you allyarn . My cancer was stage 1 and I was able to have a lumpectomy followed by adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Hi Allyarn, I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer on 7 November, but saw the surgeon there and then and he'd already booked me in for lumpectomy and lymph gland removal for December. I guess it depends on the person and extent of things, but mine (surgeon) said that mastectomy was a last resort NOT a first. I wish you all the luck with this and you are always entitled to a 2nd opinion, don't forget.
