Hi, I'm sylvie, and I  am new to the group.  I recently had a skin melanoma and a basal cell carcinoma removed. The melanoma wound has healed, but not the carcinoma one.  Am a little worried about it, as the scab is still there 15 weeks later.  Should I be worried?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you've recently had both a melanoma and BCC removed and that the BCC wound hasn't healed yet. Have you spoken to your skin cancer nurse specialist about this?

I can see that you've already found and joined the skin cancer group which would be a good place to ask your question about the healing time of a BCC.

When you feel ready to post there you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. • Hi, Have now been seen by my GP and he says everything ok with my BCC wound.  The healing is taking longer than normal, due to the wound being on the front of my lower leg where the skin is very thin.
