Hi all, hope you are as well as you can be Heart️. Here’s my story so far- I got diagnosed with fibromyalgia 6 months ago and was at the doctors for pain relief for my aches and pains when she asked me about my periods. I’m 45 so I’m peri menopausal and my periods are now very heavy shorter with a lot of clots. The doctor thought I may have fibroids and sent me for a scan. The scan showed calcification on my left ovary so I also got referred to a gynaecologist and had a ca 125 test. Two days later I had the results which were high of 94mm. So I then got the two week referral appointment thing where they have said I have an appointment with a gynaecologist oncologist on the 26th of this month and I am bricking it. I feel physically sick- my belly and back hurts I’ve lost my appetite and it’s driving me mental. You know I’ve thought of every possible scenario and can’t stop thinking about my poor mother who would never cope without me. It’s the not knowing and the waiting that’s absolutely doing my head in, has anyone had similar? Thanks for listening and love and healing to all those who are suffering x lisa

  • Hi   and a very warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but sorry to hear about your ongoing diagnoses.

Navigating the diagnosis journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but getting support from people who have walked the ‘exact same' journey can help a lot. (I have a completely different cancer).

The Community is divided into dedicated Cancer Specific Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) but I can see that you have already joined and put up a reply to a post in our dedicated Ovarian cancer support group. This is a safe place to talk to others with a similar experience, to ask questions and get support.

The best way to connect with the group is to introduce yourself by putting up your own post in the group by going to the group then clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title. You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.

The Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support or just a listening ear.

Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community.

  • The not knowing is hard and we have all been there but do connect in with the group as you will then find some kindred spirits to support you ((hugs))

  • Thank you- I just need to know- all this limbo is honestly driving me insane- I don’t know if my anxiety is making me feel sick or my ilness- ahhhhhh you could scream . I wouldn’t feel so bad I don’t think if I didn’t feel pain or my loss of appetite- 6 months back I watched a friend die from it and it’s too alike for my liking xx I think if I do have it at least let it be early stage. My doctors face said it al when my ca 125 came back at 94 - honestly I think I’ve aged bloody 20 years x I read some of these stories and feel guilty as I don’t know what’s happening with me, but I just want to wish everybody the best of luck and love and hope it all goes well xx sorry if I’m not making much sense - I’m overtired xx
