Hi
I'm having sentinel lymph node tests done..one the day before my op and more on the day of it. I've heard so many scary stories about the injections with the radiotherapy...is it that painful?
I just want to run away and be left alone..this is my 4th op. I had a wider excision about 7 weeks ago..but the found an SCC..so I having that removed.
Last week I had spot bleeding..I've now got thickening of the endometrium..polyps and a cyst...when does it end!
Hi Loobiloo and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
It's natural to be scared of a procedure that you haven't had before. I had a sentinel lymph node biopsy done when I was diagnosed with melanoma. The injection of the radioactive dye was in my arm, as that was where the melanoma had been, and I found it no more painful than any other injection I've had. I've also had one close to my nipple before breast cancer surgery and that was also bearable.
The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join a group that will give you the chance to ask questions, share experiences and get support. As you haven't said what sort of cancer you're being treated for, you can either look through this list and choose the appropriate group ,or tell me and I'll then link you to the group.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Thank you so much..I will add it to my profile now. I thought I was on the vulval cancer website..so you can see why I'm scared of the injection as its in the vulva.
If you click on vulva cancer group it will take you straight to that group where, once you've joined, you can ask the other ladies there how they've found the radioactive dye injection.
Wishing you all the best.
