Hello all,

I was just looking for some advice really or anyone who has gone through the same.

I have had a lump on my neck (just below the back of my jaw) for around 4–5 months.

I finally went to get it checked out just over a week ago and the Dr found another lump in my abdomen, which was hard and doesn’t move.

She referred me for an ultrasound and I had my bloods, stool and urine samples done the next working day.
My bloods etc came back normal. I still haven’t had the results back from the ultrasound but the sonographer said I also had a swollen thyroid with a growth on it, which makes sense as I feel as though something is constantly chocking me and food is getting stuck in my throat.
She said I would need biopsies for both lumps in my neck (jaw and thyroid) but she couldn’t figure out what the lump in my stomach was as it wasn’t really showing up on the scan but she could feel it, so now I have to waist for a different scan to see what that is.

Since my ultrasound (3 days ago) I have found a large lymph node under my left armpit and a small one at the back of my neck. My inflammation markers were all normal on my bloods so I’ve not got an infection. My white blood cells, lymphocytes and platelets are on the lower side (just about in range), my thyroid is working as it should, so I have no idea what’s going on.

I am vomiting most days and have a dull ache/light stabby pains in my chest constantly, along with super soft stools and period pains (I had a totally hysterectomy 5 years ago). Also my lower back absolutely kills all the time.

any advice or experience would be very much appreciated!

thank you Slight smile

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your ongoing challenges. The uncertainty of finding out what is actually going on is stressful and challenging but let’s look for you to get answers soon….. it’s encouraging that all the tests are being done relatively quickly.

If you find that you do end up with a cancer diagnosis you will find that the Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) and if required you can look through THIS LIST you will find all our many dedicated cancer support groups listed.

These groups are safe places to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from members who are navigating the same journey.

It’s a challenging time for you so you may want to use the Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support or just a listening ear.

Do get back to me if you need more help navigating the community.

  • Thank you for replying.

I will be joining the relevant groups if it does turn out to be cancer. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had the same kind of experience.
I have found another lump today on my neck so I will be calling the doctor first thing tomorrow to update them.

    thanks again

  • I have lived with and been treated for an incurable blood cancer for over 24 years.

I have very reactive Lymph nodes and the slightest thing can make them rise. I am coming up to 8 years out from my last treatment and just this weekend I have developed a chest infection, I have emergency antibiotics for this very occasion and as normal a few nodes have risen but will go down once the antibiotics do their job.

Do call this in tomorrow, the diagnosis process can be long and stressful.
