  1. Long story short my beautiful mum got diagnosed with angiosarcoma 2021 had 2 sessions f chemotherapy then had to stop as unfortunately her body couldn't tolerate it my mum was in agony so anyway they got InTouch with the Royal Marsden hospital in Chelsea London as treatment was available down there, so shortly after and after a few trips back and forth to the royal Marsden my mum had a major operation an infusion to get rid of the cancer her top surgeon said the success rate is usually very high. Anyway after few weeks my mum got the all clear was cancer free, it was the news we'd all been waiting for we were all elated. So after 15 months of being free unfortunately it's come back with avengence, it's now aggressive and incurable they will have to try chemo again a different type to keep it at bay but unfortunately it won't ever be cured. My mum is terrified obviously my dad is coping best he can I'm only child so have no siblings to talk to. Just feel like I'm in a horrible nightmare I just don't know how to feel anymore. It just doesn't feel real. If my mum can't tolerate the chemotherapy then I have no idea what happens next.
  • Oh bless you I'm so very sorry. There's nothing I can do to help but I can lend an ear. I have grandparents who had cancer but, most recently, friends. I have experience of brain cancer, breast cancer, throat cancer and bowel cancer. If you want to chat I'm happy to.

    Lots if love

  • Hi  and welcome to the Macmillan Community but so sorry to hear about your mum’s diagnosis. A cancer diagnosis like this in the family can be such a challenging and stressful time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' support challenges can help a lot.

As you have realised the Community is actually divided into Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) and when it comes to the practical and emotional challenges of supporting you mum. I see that you have already joined and posted in our Supporting someone with incurable cancer support group, you may also want to look at our Carers only support group, these groups helps you connect with others navigating the exact same support challenges.

The Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 or via Webchat and Email too. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear.

We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.

Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and support all the family.

Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community.
