Hi, my name is Jo and I'm new to the community. I hope to learn here as well as hopefully be a useful listener to someone sometime.

  • Hi

What brings you to the online community?

  • Hi and thank you for the welcome. I had bilateral mastectomy start of June. Had second emergency surgery for haematoma 2nd day and hospitalised for cellulitis. I'm finding recovery too slow. I couldn't take chemo as I live alone and couldn't get carers. I can't seem to get counselling.

  • It sounds like you're going through an awful lot right now

The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group as that's a great place to share experiences and get support from others with the same type of cancer as you.

To join just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

As for counselling, Macmillan have teamed up with Bupa to offer up to 6 free counselling sessions for anyone who's struggling after a cancer diagnosis. You can read more about it here.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
