Hi everyone, today I found out that a friend of mine has brain cancer. She is a single mum with a 10 year old girl that has special needs. She was diagnosed in July, but started to have symptoms in December. The NHS have done nothing about it, she saw a consultant that hasn’t even referred her for any sort of treatment. Her parents say that she would have to wait for at least 16 weeks to start her treatment. I am extremely heartbroken and so frustrated with the NHS. Is there any way to fast forward the treatment plan?
Hi Ina3635 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your friend has recently been diagnosed with brain cancer and it's natural that you want to see how the start of her treatment can be started sooner than her parents have advised you.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the brain cancer group where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support from others who have had this diagnosis. Joining the group will give you the chance to find out the usual timescale that others with this type of cancer have experienced from diagnosis to treatment.
To do this, click on the link I've created and you can then start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your friend's diagnosis and tests so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
