Intro and query about bladder cancer

I  am 89 years old, reasonably fit and mentally aware.

I live on my own by choice but have access to my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

I enjoy variious pastimes and go out for drinks at local bars where I meet friends. I also go to U3A meetings.

I have had bladder cancer since 2013 when I had BCG treatment for non invasive cancer, and annual checks since.

Last year a small growth was detected and removed by the diathermy when I had a flexible cystoscopy.

Unfortunately the person performing the cyctoscopy did not take a sample for diagnosis and neither did he reduce

the time for the next visit, one year.

At the time of my next visit I had developed a muscle invasive growth for which radical radio therapy has been recommended.

Having read the details and paid for a Consultants professional opinion I see no alternative except dindritic cell therapy .Not available in the uk privately nor with the NHS.

The cost estimates go fron £20,000 to £60,000 but I cannot find anything about the Company that appears to be the only one offering treatment except their own descriptions and records of treatments.

does anyone had treatment from the company, IMMUCURA, if so how successful was it

regards

  • Hi  and I am sorry to hear about the journey you are on. As I have a totally different cancer and treatment journey so I don't have the information you are looking for but let's see if someone will pick up on your post.

The New to Community area is like our Reception Desk. But I do see that you have already joined our dedicated Bladder cancer support group. This group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.

To connect with the group click on this link Bladder cancer then once the group page opens you can introduce yourself by clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title.

You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.

As for information about IMMUCURA the Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. This service provides cancer treatment information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear. We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.
